Grooming your dogs is easy when you know how

I really love giving my dogs their baths, and it’s become much more easy since I got instruction on how to do it better.

I have two dogs, a cocker mutt and a Lhasa-Poo mutt. They’re so adorable but they sure do get dirty. When it’s rainy in the spring, they track all kinds of mud into the house. In the fall, they bring in the leaves with them.

So I give them baths, oh, about once or twice a month, and do a bit of sprucing up, clipping and “pruning” here and there.

If I were to take my dogs to the groomer every time they needed a bath, I’d be spending somewhere between $75 and $150 every month! Think of all the money you can save when you do it yourself.

But I know it can be frustrating, especially if you don’t have the right tools or you don’t know what you’re doing.

Here’s what I did: I purchased a book called Grooming Your Dog at Home – the Ultimate Guide. It’s an incredible book, filled with EVERYTHING you need to know, for next to nothing. It’s on sale now, so it costs less than $20! You’ll save way more than that the first time you skip a visit to the groomers. And even better, when you bathe and groom them at home, you get to bond even more to your pets. They learn to trust you more, and you learn to trust yourself more. And then it becomes really fun.

But it absolutely makes a huge difference to have a professional train you to do every step the easiest, best way.

One of the most difficult things about taking care of my cocker mutt is cleaning those floppy cocker ears. I learned a LOT about the best and easiest way to do this, and how to KEEP his ears clean and keep that nasty smell away FOREVER! Smelly dog ears are disgusting! And they’re bad for your dog.

My Lhasa-Poo mutt has trouble with eye boogers. If I don’t keep after him, he’s got those black globs under his eyes on that cutie-pie cream-colored face. Learned some great tips about taking care of that too.

In Grooming Your Dog at Home – the Ultimate Guide, you learn about different coat textures, how to take care of long-haired dogs, curly haired, wiry, and everything in between kind of dog. You also learn about your dog’s diet and the effect diet has on keeping the coat super shiny and soft. There’s LOTS of information for all different kinds of breeds. And the book is filled with pictures and step-by-step instructions so you can do the whole process like a pro.

Shedding is another huge topic. You really can learn how to keep it under control. And that makes EVERYTHING so much easier.

Do you have a double-coated dog or a single-coated dog? My older cocker mutt is a double-coated dog. He used to shed like CRAZY. My little one, the Lhasa-Poo, doesn’t shed at all! Love that! But his hair grows — fast. He has a big burly coat in the winter, and in the spring and summer, I shave it all off. And then the naked, frisky side of him comes out. What a hoot!

Anyway, come visit this doggie site for lots more information about grooming and pet care.
