Tecsun PL-600 PLL SSB SYN RADIO RECEIVER REVIEW
SinceI’ve just had it easily portable receiver4 weeks ago, but I still to be impressed by this really good new China lw/mw (am)/sw/fm/air band radio from Tecsun.
1) The double conversion, very high quality PLL (Phase locked loop), world band radio is certainly a completely new model of the Eton E10 with full SSB (single-sideband band) ability (also previously known as the Tecsun PL-550). This excellent SSB detection capacity has also a very finely controlled, center detent adjustment, BFO (beat frequency oscillator) knob in the center of the left hand side of the radio between the volume control knob and the tuning control knob. There are also numerous ways of tuning the radio receiver by using a direct access keypad, separate digital up/down scanning keys, etc.
2) Dual bandwidths for quality sw reception with dx/normal/local switch as well as AC/DC power input, external fm/sw antenna input, in-ear input, nicely managed backlight, great, five full bar, signal strength meter, little, four bar, battery charge signal, dual timers, clock always on-screen, bass-treble tone setting switch, 600 memory stations which five hundred presets are user controllable, 2 sets of frequency adjustment steps for every available frequency band (fast/slow), with very fine reception and audio clarity on ALL bands, etc.
3) A whole set of system codes is obtainable via a devoted key for quickly placing all possible system selection options (number of preset pages with quantity of presets per page of memory, type of batteries being used, regular or rechargeable, 9 or 10 KHZ step size depending on the geographic area from the listener, etc.) Such as, setting the machine set code to “03″, a whole air band channel (as noted above, however with the presence on the screen of the actual small aeroplane image!) is on yet another high frequency band (4th of 5 present on this radio) from 118-136 MHz. This band can’t be automatically scanned (just like the one available on the Grundig G6 radio that is also for sale on Takeradio and designed for the Grundig/Eton corporation by Tecsun since it’s OEM-Original equipment manufacturer).
Tecsun PL-600 is quite cheap but it has high performance
